Kasthall celebrates its 120th anniversary!

This year Kasthall celebrates its 120th anniversary, which has given a special touch to many of this year’s new rugs.

2009 marks 120 years since Ludvig Andersson founded Kasthall – Sweden’s first industrial rug factory. The factory still stands where it always has– on the shore of Häggån, outside Kinna, at the heart of western Sweden’s textile kingdom. All our woven and hand tufted rugs are still manufactured here. Kasthall is now established in 40 countries, with showrooms in Milan, Stockholm and New York. Our customers include many of the finest fashion houses, chain stores, hotels, offices, restaurants, public buildings, authorities and individuals around the world.

Despite the fantastic development that Kasthall has undergone, in may ways the company has retained the authentic, personal touch that it had in Ludvig Andersson’s time – all the staff know each other’s names and our focus is always on quality and design. Our own unique archive contains samples and sketches of all the rugs produced at Kasthall since the 1950s. This is the gold mine in which our designers have found inspiration for many of this year’s collections – not least our special collections Nova and Spectra, which are long pile, patterned rya rugs created based on older wall-to-wall carpet designs.
