Kasthall was founded in 1889 by the young entrepreneur Ludvig Anderson who established a carpet factory in what would later be the heart of Sweden's textile industry.

Lara Bohinc, internationally acclaimed British designer and founder of London based Bohinc Studio, has created a limited collection of rugs, wall hanging and accessories for the home. Inspired by the serenity of Japanese rock gardens and supported by the design sensibility and skill of Kasthall, the patterns and the materials form a mesmerizing expression of style, function and heritage.

In the world of literature and art, nature is a recurring source of inspiration. Nature’s wonderous multitude is an abundant treasure chest for creative thoughts. Its ability to create unexpected color palettes and shapes, tickles every sense. Colors and materials hold stories that need to be interpreted 
and told. We have tried to capture the fragile soul and mystique of nature, with humility and awe. 

THE FRENCH CONNECTION - AN INNOVATIVE PATTERN WAS THE PERFECT FIT FOR THE HOTEL BAR 

Earlier this year, Kasthall introduced the hand tufted rug Diamond, which quickly became a favorite in the 2018 collection, Legacy of Tomorrow. Now Kasthall is launching Black Diamond, a black version of the popular rug, which in contrast to Diamond’s white base with gold and black elements has a black base with a linear pattern in copper and cream. 

Livia is our new tufted wall-to-wall carpet in 100% wool bouclé, developed specifically for public spaces. The color palette is inspired by the Nordic landscape and the thick mottled yarn has got natural color variations of a melange character.

On June 10, the unique summer exhibition Kasthall – A Historic Rugmaker Through Time opened at Rydals Museum in Mark municipality. The exhibition continues until September 2, and puts a number of unique sketches and rugs on display for the first time.

Åker is a limited edition tufted rug with horizontal block stripes of different textures, colors and techniques. It demonstrates a range of tuft types in each of its stripes – cut and loop pile, cut pile and bouclé pile, and uses a mixture of linen, wool and mélange yarns. The blocks work together to conceptualize the textures and colors found in farmland that surround the Kasthall factory in a beautiful and abstract way.

The Design Galley in Stockholm presents UNDERSTORY, an amazing exhibition by Louise Hederström. The exhibition consists of six pieces all centered around the rug designed together with Kasthall.

The rug is named September, and is impressive with 10 x 4 meters dimensions.

This year we have challenged ourselves in the design process as well as in the development of new yarn qualities and techniques for weaving and tufting. We've also brought unique handicraft like embroidery and sketching into the process. Our love of textile history and natural materials led the way. Our rugs and textile coverings are created for all kinds of clients and spaces; from beautiful residences, lux yachts, and exotic hideaways to cool offices, boutique hotels and the Swedish Royal Castle.

Kasthall is launching a new product concept called Harvest during the ICFF design fair in New York. Harvest is a creation of the Kasthall design studio, which saw an opportunity to further the company’s environmental stewardship by making use of leftover spools of yarn from the production process. The Harvest range consists of modern woven rugs in colour-shifting hues, made entirely from residual yarn, each rug with a unique appearance.

The global design company Kasthall was given the prestigious commission of handcrafting unique rugs for Acne Studios, designed by British designer Max Lamb. A close and creative collaboration between Acne Studios and Kasthall resulted in hand-tufted pieces of art in innovative patterns of shifting shades of blue.

Dont miss the Arrival Of Origin Cocktailparty at Kasthall Showroom , Thursday 9th of February.

In its autumn season exhibition ”Local Design”, Svenskt Tenn takes visitors behind the scenes at five Swedish workshops where furniture, glass, carpets and pewter objects are handcrafted for the brand, as they have been for decades. The purpose is to demonstrate the rich craftsmanship practiced in Sweden, and how the selection of materials and manufacturing methods can make a difference for people as well as for the environment. 

The exhibition ''Local Design” opens on September 15, and runs through November 6.
