On June 10, the unique summer exhibition Kasthall – A Historic Rugmaker Through Time opened at Rydals Museum in Mark municipality. The exhibition continues until September 2, and puts a number of unique sketches and rugs on display for the first time.
This is the second time that Kasthall and Rydals Museum have come together. The first time was in 1989, when Kasthall celebrated its 100th birthday with an exhibition at the museum. This year’s summer exhibition reflects Kasthall’s journey from its start in 1889 as a local rug factory through to the global design brand that Kasthall is today.
Visitors to the exhibition can see original sketches from many of Kasthall’s best-known designers, including Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg, Ingrid Dessau, Viola Gråsten and Astrid Sampe. Around 20 Kasthall classics from each era of the company will be on display – from 50s and 60s wall-to-wall rugs to a new design classic from this year’s big collaboration with British designer Ilse Crawford.
