new rugs to Landskab collection by Cecilie Manz

New expressions of Spire and Korn expand Landskab through a new oval shape and the introduction of Malm, a deeper, mineral-inspired colourway developed across both designs. Available from September 2026

Spire Oval a new rug within the Landskab collection, defined by fine, linear shifts in pile height that trace a precise, radial pattern across an oval field, begins with a simple idea: lines formed through small differences in height.

Developed as an extension of Cecilie Manz’s Landskab collection at Kasthall, the rug explores how a controlled system can generate variation within a textile surface. Short, repeated rows are arranged in a radial formation, rotating around the centre of the oval. The result is a pattern that is precise in structure while retaining a sense of movement as the eye follows its lines.

The reference is both agricultural and mineral — the furrows of a field marking newly sown rows, or the fine grooves found in stone. These observations are translated into a textile logic, where variation emerges through repetition and subtle shifts in height.

Fine-tuning color in yarn.

Tufted in wool and linen at Kasthall’s factory in Kinna, the rug is developed through a cut and loop construction that creates fine variations in pile height across the surface. The proximity between design and production allows for an exact calibration of color and material, where even minor adjustments are tested directly in yarn. Spire Oval gives a new shape to a distinctive surface, an oval format that changes how it is read and expands where and how the rug can be used.

Korn, the flatwoven design within the Landskab collection, is now also introduced in the new Malm colourway. Constructed in a broken twill structure using a specially developed effect yarn with wool and linen threads running in parallel, Korn is defined by a subtle sense of movement and refined material depth.

The deeper mineral-inspired tone further emphasises the interaction
between wool and linen, allowing texture and tactility to become increasingly
pronounced as light moves across the surface.

“I’m still interested in testing ideas and refining color. The smallest shifts can’t be predicted — they need to be worked out in the material. Having that process in close connection to production is essential,”
