Dalstorp Church, designed by architect Bengt Jörgen Jörgensen and built between 1964 and 1965, is characterised by a restrained architectural expression where individual elements gain strong visual presence within the space.
When the church congregation sought to replace a previously stolen rug, Kasthall was commissioned to create a new design with a distinctly different expression. The rug draws inspiration from the surrounding landscape, with a pattern reflecting elements of the forest. Deep green tones are combined with surfaces of brown-violet and varying shades of blue, evoking water and natural terrain, while subtle accents of yellow suggest reflections of sunlight.
Placed in the otherwise minimal church interior, the rug forms a striking dialogue with the bronze relief altarpiece by artist Jörgen Martinsson. Tufted in the Classic quality in 100% wool with accents of Lurex in gold and copper, the rug introduces material richness and symbolic depth to the space.
