Designed to meet the demands of hospitality environments, Kasthall rugs and wall-to-wall carpets combine aesthetics and performance while contributing to comfort, acoustics, and the overall identity of the interior.
At Ektofta, Vår Gård in Saltsjöbaden, outside Stockholm, these possibilities are expressed through a combination of large and small woven rugs together with wall-to-wall in selected hotel rooms. Each solution responds to its particular setting while contributing to a cohesive experience throughout the hotel.
Craftsmanship and quality were important guiding principles throughout the project. Kasthall's long history of Swedish rug making and expertise in woven constructions provided a natural connection to Vår Gård's own emphasis on quality, heritage, and genuine craftsmanship.
The customized woven rugs connect to Swedish craft traditions while adding detail and a strong material presence to the interiors. Patterns, textures, and carefully considered colors complement the wider interior concept and contribute to a cohesive expression throughout the hotel.
THE FLOOR AS PART OF THE DESIGN
Rather than treating the floor as a neutral backdrop, the project uses rugs and wall-to-wall carpets as an active part of the interior.
Natural materials and tactile surfaces play an important role in creating the warm, welcoming atmosphere of Ektofta. The intention was to move away from the feeling of a conventional, neutral hotel interior and instead allow the floor to become a more expressive part of the design. Together, the rugs and wall-to-wall carpets contribute to a more considered and personal guest experience, reinforcing the sense of quality and craftsmanship that runs throughout the project.
