Bankeryd Church

Bankeryd, Sweden

Located in southern Sweden, Bankeryd Church dates back to 1865 and is designed in a classicist architectural style. The interior is defined by symmetry and clarity, while a distinctive palette of blue and red introduces a vibrant and characterful expression.

Within this church, a custom-made woven rug has been developed to cover both the main aisle and cross aisles. The textile intervention brings cohesion to the space, connecting the strong color elements while supporting the architectural rhythm.

In a space where both durability and acoustics are essential, the rug contributes with a balanced material presence – Bankerydsoftening the interior while maintaining clarity and structure. Its melange surface introduces depth and variation, allowing it to sit naturally within the layered color composition.

The project reflects a careful dialogue between historic architecture and contemporary craftsmanship, where the addition enhances the experience of the space while remaining respectful of its original character.
