Located in a late 19th-century building on Södermalm in Stockholm, the studio of Claesson Koivisto Rune reflects the architectural clarity and material precision that define the practice’s work.
The office occupies a sequence of classical enfilade rooms, where light, proportion, and spatial rhythm shape the atmosphere of the interior. “When we moved our studio into an 1890’s building on Södermalm, with its classical enfilade rooms, we needed rugs that could settle naturally into the spaces.
We chose Tiles in the color Terracotta for our own rooms and, together with Kasthall, developed a full new palette so there would be a color for every architectural era and every kind of floor material – and one to stand in contrast, when contrast is needed.” – Claesson Koivisto Rune.
Within the studio, rugs from the Tiles collection, designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune for Kasthall, introduce a structured textile surface inspired by the dimensional logic of building materials. The design explores how geometry behaves in space, translating architectural thinking into textile form. Defined by fine lines and carefully balanced proportions, the rugs create fields that echo the logic of brickwork and modular construction.
Available in the variations Block, Brick, and Slab, the collection reflects the studio’s approach to design; precise, restrained, and grounded in spatial understanding.
