
The flooring plays a central role in how the space is used. Large carpet sections mark out the different zones. Granite slabs break up the busiest areas. The rest is soft underfoot. The pattern – circles in muted blues – nods to coins and ties directly back to the frescoes on the walls.
”The carpeted areas define the different zones while helping to maintain the open character of the space,” says Claesson Koivisto Rune.
Everything introduced follows the same principle – considered, durable, and made to belong.

The bar is new, and above it a mezzanine framed with angled mirrors bounces the frescoes back into the room. Chairs and tables cluster around the original columns, while a long curtain keeps the acoustic panels out of sight along the walls. It's detailed work where everything has been thought through.
Custom-designed elements and furniture were chosen to hold up – and to blend with the architecture rather than compete with it.
Kasthall contributed 460 square meters of custom broadloom for Frescohallen. In 2023, the restaurant won Best Restaurant at the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards and was also shortlisted for the Dezeen Awards.
