THE TRANSFORMATION OF A DRESSING ROOM

Vietato L’ingresso is an initiative to redesign the old dressing rooms in the historic Teatro Degli Arcimboldi in the city of Milan. The project entails 17 quite known Italian interior decorator firms who was given the task to freely transform the theatres 17 dressing rooms before the grand re-opening of the theatre in September 2021.

PROJECT TEATRO DEGLI ARCIMBOLDI

Kasthall was asked by Calvi Ceschia Viganò Architects Associated to give life to the floor in one of the dressing rooms. The architect’s idea was to transform the dressing room into a place of introspection and silence – an intimate and cozy place for the actors. Keeping the functional elements such as mirrors, light and seats, the architects enriched the room with details and materials such as boiserie, Murano blown glass and beautiful fabrics.

A CUSTOM-MADE AWARD-WINNING PROJECT

To cover both the floor, part of the walls and the built-in sofa, the architects chose a bespoke hand tufted rug by Kasthall, in natural wool and in an ocean blue color. A custom-made project, designed by the architects to create an atmosphere of coziness, silence and a sense of privacy.

In the Vietato L’ingresso initiative, the public was given opportunity to vote for the best redesign. Calvi Ceschia Viganò and the Diorama dressing room was voted the best out of 17 redesigned dressing rooms. Kasthall is proud to be part of this award-winning design.
