Designer Collaboration

Claesson Koivisto Rune is a Stockholm-based architecture and design studio founded by Mårten Claesson, Eero Koivisto and Ola Rune. Originally established as an architectural practice, the studio now works internationally across architecture, interiors and product design.

Their work is defined by a clear, graphic approach where architectural thinking extends from buildings to objects, with a focus on how materials, surfaces and structure interact within space.

In collaboration with Kasthall, this perspective is translated into textiles. Rug designs explore rhythm, proportion and structure through pattern and surface—from the early Pinstripe for Operakällaren in Stockholm to the Tiles collection, where architectural geometries inform designs such as Brick, Block and Slab.

Across these works, the rugs express a calm, precise and tactile approach to how structure and surface shape the atmosphere of a space.

"When we recently moved our studio into an 1890s building on Södermalm, with its classical enfilade rooms, we needed rugs that could settle naturally into the spaces. We chose Terracotta for our own rooms and, together with Kasthall, developed a full new palette so there would be a color for every architectural era and every kind of floor material — and one to stand in contrast, when contrast is needed."
