Jonas Bohlin is a Swedish designer and interior architect whose work has been influential in shaping contemporary Scandinavian design since the early 1980s. Working across furniture, lighting, glass, textiles and art objects, his work moves fluidly between functional design and more experimental, artistic expression. His work often combines conceptual thinking with a strong sensitivity to material and form.
Bohlin first gained international recognition with the chair Concrete, originally developed as his graduation project at Konstfack – University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, where he later also served as professor. The chair has since achieved cult status and remains one of the most iconic pieces of Swedish contemporary design.
Bohlin’s collaboration with Kasthall resulted in the hand-tufted rug Vårtecken. Inspired by the Nordic landscape and the subtle signs of seasonal change, the design reflects Bohlin’s belief that colours, patterns and structures already exist in nature, waiting to be discovered through careful observation.
