Weaving a new direction
Launching 20 April
A new collection in the making. Kasthall and Barber Osgerby come together in a collaboration shaped from within the loom.
Working closely with Kasthall's own mill in Sweden, the designers immersed themselves in the rhythm, pace and constraints of industrial weaving — allowing process, material and technique to define the outcome rather than imposing a predefined aesthetic. The result is a collection where structure becomes expression — where the logic of making is visible in every surface.
Instead of designing from the outside, Barber Osgerby began by understanding what Kasthall already does best. By working within the capabilities of the loom — its rhythm, limitations and possibilities — the collection emerges directly from the conditions of making.
This approach creates a new kind of expression: one where material honesty and industrial logic define the visual language. Bringing together 135 years of Swedish weaving tradition with over 30 years of international design practice, this collaboration marks a new chapter in Kasthall’s design culture. Not a guest appearance — but a shared exploration of how contemporary design can evolve through craft.Atlas and Bonbon explore the same foundation — structure, rhythm and material — through two distinct expressions.
Two directions. One logic.
Atlas and Bonbon explore the same foundation. Structure, rhythm and material through two distinct expressions.
Atlas reveals the structure of the weave, where warp and weft interact to create a surface with depth and subtle shimmer. Inspired by shifting landscapes, the rug moves gently with light — a tactile topography shaped by material and technique.
Bonbon introduces a denser weave and layered colour compositions, where tone-on-tone yarns create depth and vibrancy. The palette — Berry, Lemon, Damson, Licorice, Rhubarb, Toffee — brings a sense of energy while maintaining a refined material clarity.
