Kasthall introduces Shifting, a new rug developed by the Kasthall Design Studio. Showcasing the studio’s innovative approach to tufting, Shifting use yarn development and pile construction to create depth, movement, and sensory presence.
Shifting is a high-pile rya rug in cut pile Worsted wool, developed through extensive yarn-blending experiments with twisted mouliné yarns. The result is soft gradients that shift across the surface with light and perspective.
Inspired by the terrain and transitions of the Swedish west coast, where sky, ocean, coastline, and fields dissolve into one another, Shifting reflects a landscape in constant transformation.
Tufted at Kasthall’s factory in Kinna, Sweden, the rug is created through a process that brings together technical skill, material knowledge, and experience, with the entire production carried out under one roof.
Shifting is available in four colourways — Field, Sky, Sand and Cloud — reflecting the shifting tones of the landscape that inspired the design.
The result is a deeply tactile, atmospheric rug.
