WOVEN ORIGINALS

Kasthall Woven Originals present a curated range of woven rugs. Each design is crafted by Kasthall’s masters of weaving and reflects a craftsmanship tradition built on centuries of textile knowledge.

Weaving is one of the oldest textile techniques, rooted in the precise interlacing of warp and weft to create structure, texture, and pattern. While the loom has evolved through technical refinement, the essence of weaving remains unchanged – a careful balance of material and skill. The technique offers clarity of design, structural strength, and complexity, resulting in rugs defined by durability and architectural elegance.

All woven rugs are made in Sweden at the Kasthall mill, where masters unite advanced weaving technology with time-honored techniques. The result is rugs distinguished by structure and quiet sophistication – designed to live beautifully over time in private and public spaces.

Created by the Kasthall Design Studio, the woven originals draws on profound expertise in design, color, and material. Inspiration is often expressed through considered palettes and refined patterns that highlight the woven construction. Each rug reflects originality, precision, and lasting quality.

Characteristics

Woven rugs are characterized by structural clarity and durability. Their firm construction and defined patterns make them particularly suited to spaces where architectural expression and long-term performance are essential.

In private homes, woven rugs bring definition and refinement to dining areas, hallways, kitchens, and living spaces – offering resilience while maintaining a sophisticated aesthetic.

For professional environments, they are especially well suited to high-traffic settings such as hospitality venues, public institutions, and corporate spaces. Their construction ensures dimensional stability and longevity, meeting the practical demands of contract projects without compromising design integrity.

IDA

Ida is a technically demanding woven rug, constructed in 100% premium wool. Inspired by Scandinavian and global weaving traditions, the röllakan-influenced design is woven from a detailed sketch. The complex pattern is manually guided on the loom, each colour change requiring the weaver’s direct attention – a constant dialogue between eye, hand, and material.

As the design studio notes: “It requires you to be fully present at the loom."
