HOTEL PRINCIPE DI FORTE DEI MARMI

Forte Dei Marmi, Italy

On Italy’s Tuscan coast, Hotel Principe di Forte dei Marmi demonstrates how thoughtful design choices can shape a hospitality experience where aesthetic clarity and long-term performance go hand in hand.

Surrounded by the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Apuan Alps, the hotel’s setting already offers a strong sense of place. Building on this, CEO Cristina Vascellari led a careful renovation of the hotel’s 28 rooms and shared spaces, with a particular focus on flooring. Kasthall rugs became a central element in this transformation – introducing structure, warmth, and cohesion throughout the interiors.

As Cristina Vascellari explains:
“For me, rugs can do so much for a space. They anchor furniture arrangements, defining zones within a room and creating a sense of cohesion. They add texture, warmth and visual interest, contributing to the room's ambiance. I also believe they can serve as a focal point, introducing colour, patterns and style that creates a seamless dynamic with the surrounding decor.”

In this project, rugs play a defining role in shaping both atmosphere and function. They support a calm and consistent visual language across rooms and shared spaces, while meeting the practical demands of a hospitality environment.

Durability was a key consideration throughout the renovation. Designed to withstand high levels of use, the rugs offer a long-term solution that maintains both performance and appearance over time.

A shared approach to responsibility also informed the project. Rather than being discarded, replaced rugs were given to staff members – extending their lifespan and reinforcing a more considered approach to material use.

The renovation features rugs from the Post Icon, Stripe Icon, Fåra, Greta collections, contributing to interiors defined by material integrity, quiet tactility, and a balanced, contemporary expression.
